What accessories do you recommend?

Whilst there are a lot of added pools accessories that you can option up your new Aussie Plunge Pool with, we recommend that you start with the essentials such as:
A Filter Package (matched pump & filter) for clear, clean low-effort water sanitisation.
AND

A-Frame Pool Ladder for safe entry/exit.

We have both of these available for you on our Products Page.

Do I need council approval and a fence for my new Aussie Plunge Pool™?

In most states, any pool deeper than 300 mm requires a compliant safety barrier, registration and an inspection. Requirements vary by council/state. Obtain advice directly from your local authority and follow their instructions. Your pack includes engineering documentation and general guidance to help with any applications that may be needed. But please always confirm specifics with your local council/state resources.

What else might my council require?

Depending on location, you may need: a dedicated backwash route (e.g., sewer), CPR/safety signage on the barrier, pool registration and—in some areas—a development application. Your local council is the final authority on these.

My block has no side access. Can I still install?

Yes. Many owners roll-in with a trolley and two helpers when there’s a clear path; otherwise a single hi-ab lift over the house can place the shell quickly. Measure narrow points, gate openings and check for overhead obstructions; a hi-ab / crane company can confirm reach in minutes.

Do I need to prepare the ground under the plunge pool?

Yes. A flat, well-compacted base is the single biggest factor in an easy install and long, trouble-free life. Whether you’re placing the shell above-ground or in-ground, plan a simple engineered base that drains well and stays level.

How do I prepare the ground under the plunge pool?

Option A — Above-Ground (most common)

Recommended build-up (top-down):

1. Pool shell

2. Protective separator (optional but ideal): geotextile fabric or 5–10 mm rubber underlay to protect the shell from fine grit.

3. Level, compacted pad (100–150 mm): crusher dust/road base compacted in layers (use a plate compactor).

4. Natural ground prepared and trimmed to a gentle fall away from the pad.

Key specs & tips

- Pad size: pool diameter + 300 mm all around (e.g., PP7000 ≈ 2.9 m → pad ≈ 3.5 m diameter).

- Level tolerance: within ±5 mm across the full pad. Check with a long straightedge/spirit level.

- Drainage: the surrounding area should fall away from the pad to prevent water ponding under/around the shell.

- Edge restraint (optional): treated pine, concrete header, or masonry ring keeps the pad tidy and resists erosion.

- Don’t use: loose gravel alone, un-compacted fill, or soft garden soils—they settle and can twist the shell.

Good to know: On expansive clay or very soft soils, increase pad thickness (e.g., 150 mm), consider a geotextile layer beneath the pad, and compact in two passes. On sandy sites, a light moisture mist before compacting improves density.

Option B — Concrete Slab (premium above-ground finish)

- 100 mm reinforced slab (typical N12 mesh) on compacted sub-base, dead-flat and smooth trowel finish; include control joints outside the pool footprint.

- Provides the most stable platform, ideal if you’re building a deck right up to the shell.

- Ensure slab edges don’t create a trip or water-trap; maintain fall away from the pool zone.

Option C — In-Ground (flush or partially sunk)

1. Excavate a neat hole to the manufacturer’s footprint plus working clearance.

2. Lay a level, compacted bedding layer (crusher dust/road base, ~100–150 mm).

3. Set the shell on the level base.

4. Fill the shell with water as you backfill around it (clean backfill, compacted in shallow lifts). Filling and backfilling together stabilises the wall and prevents distortion.

5. Where ground-water is possible, discuss a hydrostatic relief solution with your installer before you start.

Important: Never backfill against an empty (or near-empty) shell. Avoid angular rock backfill directly against the wall.

Slopes, Decks & Finishes

- On a sloped yard, bench or terrace the area first; don’t build a pad that’s “thick” at one edge and thin at the other without proper retaining.

- If surrounding with a deck, use a ring beam/footings designed so the pool base remains independent (no load transferred to the shell).

- Keep soft landscaping slightly below coping level and maintain a clear drip edge for runoff.

Quick Checklists

Base Day Checklist

☐ Pad diameter = pool diameter + 300 mm

☐ Compacted in layers; surface within ±5 mm level

☐ Drainage falls away; no ponding spots

☐ Separator layer (geo-fabric/rubber) placed (optional)

☐ Edge restraint installed (optional but tidy)

Red-Flag Fix Before Delivery

☐ Soft, springy or freshly placed fill → re-compact or replace with road base

☐ Visible ponding after hosing → regrade for fall away from pad

☐ More than 5 mm level variance → re-screed/compact and re-check

Final note: The above reflects best-practice for small round poly plunge pools and aligns with the guidance we’ve been outlining. Always cross-check specific pad thicknesses and any local variations in the official installation guide provided with your Aussie Plunge Pool™ and confirm any council requirements for surrounds, drainage and barriers. If you’re unsure, send site photos and measurements—support can sanity-check your plan before delivery.

FAQ image

Once I have my Aussie Plunge Pool, how much maintenance is needed?

Your new Aussie Plunge Pool™ has been designed to be low maintenance and easy to keep clean.

- It is always good practice to have your pool filter running at least 1-2 times a day (depending on the season and pool usage) for a period of an hour each time. Use an automatic timer and you will never need worry about remembering to switch on your filter again.
- Once a day: Skim the surface and bottom of your pool with a scoop to clear leaves and debris and empty your filter basket to keep your filter free from obstruction and running optimally.
- Once a Week: Test & balance the sanity of the water. Apply appropriate pool chemicals based on the test results. Because your Aussie Plunge Pool™ is nice and compact, you won't need hardly any pool chemical product to keep it crystal clear and safe for the family to use year-round.
- Once a Week: Backwash your pool filter according to the manufacturers instructions that come with your filter.
- Once a Week: Brush down the sides and bottom of your Aussie Plunge Pool™ to keep free from any algae build-up that can occur over time.

- Continue routine filtration and testing over cooler months, however reduced run-times and less chemical applications are typical.

FAQ image

Can I run a magnesium (mineral) pool?

Yes.

Your durable Aussie Plunge Pool™ shell is safe to hold magnesium mineral water, and many owners choose magnesium for a softer feel and healthy option to a chlorine based pool.

You will need to purchase a pump and filter that has magnesium capabilities. Please consult the manufacturer of your filter before purchasing.

FAQ image

I would like to swim in my Aussie Plunge Pool™ all year long. Can I heat my pool without damaging the shell?

You sure can.

Adding a suitable pool heater as an after market add-on is a great idea. However, if you are thinking of doing this you will need to consider where and how you are placing your Aussie Plunge Pool™ as this will effect how and when you will need to add the pool heater on as an addition. Your Aussie Plunge Pool™ will need to be empty to retrofit the heaters entry and exit fittings. This may not be possible once you have dropped it into a in-ground setting.

Another option to consider is purchasing a thermal-cover to reduce heat loss and protect from falling tree debris, whilst at the same time heating your pool.

FAQ image

Will my Aussie Plunge Pool™ Shell Crack under the sun?

The shell is manufactured from UV-stabilised polyethylene and designed for all types of tough Australian conditions.

FAQ image

What is the warranty and expected life of the Aussie Plunge Pool™?

The shell carries a 5-year warranty and is engineered for a long service life of 20-years + under normal residential use.
